WILLIAMHILL – no payout, no withdrawal after win

William Hill Refusing to Release My Funds After Jackpot Win

I recently hit a big jackpot on the slots at William Hill, only to be met with frustrating roadblocks when attempting to withdraw my winnings. They’re now asking for unreasonable amounts of identification, and even worse, they won’t let me withdraw the deposit I originally played with. Truly an “ethical” company with impeccable morals.

Here’s the list of documents they requested:

  • Proof of identity (fair enough, but why only when I request a withdrawal?)
  • A handwritten note with my username and account number (this doesn’t even seem like legitimate ID)
  • Proof of address (slightly more reasonable)
  • Full transaction history for the past three months (how is that even necessary?)
  • Proof of ownership of payment method: They asked for a screenshot of my online banking. However, I don’t have online banking linked to the card I deposited with.

I understand why they might request proof of payment ownership, but this request is unreasonable given my payment method. I filed a complaint with them, outlined my concerns, referenced the UK Gambling Commission, and highlighted how they’re violating rules, but they didn’t seem to care at all.

I’m not sure if complaining to the Commission will help, but at this point, it might be worth trying. Honestly, though, it’s not worth giving up all of this personal information just because I managed to win at their game.

Why was I allowed to deposit and play without issues, but now that I’ve won, my account is locked and I can’t withdraw anything?
